PRDX MV Triton Lowered Suspension Upgrade Kit

$3,590.00 Inc. GST

SKU: PRDX-MITSMV-LOW

The ultimate suspension kit to get the best out of your MV Triton on-road and to be honest, on fast dirt roads as well.

Our HBD (Hillbilly Delete) lowering kit features purpose built (shortened) Bilstein shocks and struts with bespoke valving chosen for the right mix of on-road manners and ride comfort.

The hand made front coils and lowered 3 over 1 two-stage rear leaf packs are made exclusively for PRDX.

This is the anti-thesis of your regular 4WD ‘off-the-shelf’ suspension kit and besides making the MV look very cool, it lifts the cars dynamics to a different level. Ride, handling, steering, and we suspect even fuel economy, are all improved.

PRODUCT INFORMATION AND FAQs

FITTING - DIY AND FITTING PARTNER NETWORK

We have close to 30 fitting partners around Australia, that are selectable via the fitting dropdown list above. The cost of fitting is not included in the kit pricing, and will be charged to you directly by the fitter. As a guide, expect a full suspension kit to cost around $600 - $700 to fit, including a wheel alignment.

If you select a fitter we will ship directly to them, and have them contact you to book a fitting appointment, once the kit has been received by them.

WHAT DOES THIS KIT INCLUDE?

This PRDX HBD suspension lowering kit, consists of the following high-quality components.

2 x fully assembled custom (shortened) Bilstein B6 front struts, with bespoke valving (developed in conjunction with PRDX) and fitted with made in Australia, fully scragged coils and new top mounts.

2 x rear custom (shortened) Bilstein B6 shock absorbers with bespoke valving (developed in conjunction with PRDX).

2 x rear 60mm lowered rear leaf packs. These are NOT reset OEM springs, they are far superior, more comfortable from a ride perspective and better able to deal with some load. They also radically change the vehicle’s dynamics.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OVER STOCK?

If you enjoy driving, and appreciate a vehicle that has it's ride and handling well sorted, then this is the suspension upgrade for you.

Not only does it make the MV Triton look right, this suspension upgrade significantly improves everything about the way the MV drives, and turns it into a highly capable and comfortable highway and country b-road road tourer.

Have a read of our 40,000km MV Triton review here, which in part, details the development of this suspension kit and the issues with the stock car that we set out to fix.

WHY DON'T YOU USE OFF-THE-SHELF VALVING?

Funny story. Around two score and five years ago there was a suspension wizard in Melbourne that lowered a lowly white Commodore ute. His magic formula was Bilstein B6 shocks/struts - that he revalved for a more 'plush' ride - and lowered Eibach coils.

That Commodore, despite being lowered, was a revelation in the way that it soaked up bumps and went around corners.

I'll argue to this day, that in a road car, a more compliant ride, equals more grip and ultimately better handling on less than perfect roads.

The shocks for these PRDX suspension kits were never going to have off-the-shelf valving, as we were chasing that wizard's mix of comfort and handling. We got there in the end, and while the revalving adds cost, it's worth it.

WHAT ARE THE POST FITMENT HEIGHTS THAT I SHOULD EXPECT?

Mitsubishi quotes eyebrow heights (wheel centre to edge of guard) for the MV Triton of 520mm front / 569mm rear. The GSR with it's flares, knocks 5mm off those measurements.

After fitting this kit and allowing enough time for it to all settle a little, you will see around 470mm front / 510mm rear (465mm/505mm for the GSR).

WHY WE'VE LOWERED AND NOT DUMPED.

There are a number of good reasons not to lower the MV Triton more than this kit does. As it stands, we have maintained adequate and safe bump stop clearances, and the eyebrow heights are within the minimum specifications outlined by Mitsubishi in it's MV Triton Road Vehicle Descriptor documentation. This document's information is used for vehicle type approval and by the various state law enforcement agencies when determining what is and isn't legal.

Lift kits of up to 50mm mostly fit within the prescribed allowable modification range, regarding lift heights and suspension travel, and thus don't require engineering, and we've set out to ensure that this lowering kit fits the same allowable parameters (the parameters apply to both increases and decreases in ride height).

IS THIS KIT SUITED TO BULLBARS AND WINCHES?

To be honest, we haven't tested it with any constant load on the front and wouldn't recommend it. This kit was never designed with bars and winches in mind, It's a kit that's been designed for Triton owners that enjoy driving on-road, and want to improve the stock vehicle's dynamics.

CAN I PURCHASE JUST THE SHOCKS OR LEAF PACKS?

The components of this kit are only available as part of the complete kit. The shocks/struts are shortened and are not suited to a stock height or lifted Triton, and the lowered springs aren't compatible with the stock Triton suspension components.
